I was listening to NPR this morning on the way into work. Heard a piece on the death of Margaret Whiting, best known for singing "Moonlight in Vermont." She was asked to sing the song in 1943 and said, "How can I sing about moonlight in Vermont if I've never been there to experience it?"
It's shockingly easy to believe in God and the life of Jesus without experiencing it.
If it's been awhile since you've experienced the mystery, wonder, love and grace of Jesus, do whatever you can to open up some time in your life for it.
God so often nudges us in the quiet moments. Allow your soul to be refreshed. Breathe. Power down your electronics. Go for a walk. Write. Pray. Listen. Paint. Sing. Read. Take a friend to lunch who will challenge and encourage you. Pick a reading plan on www.youversion.com and read scripture each day. There are so many ways to connect with God. Find the ones that work for how you're wired.
I believe there's moonlight in Vermont. But I can't tell people about it very well if I've never experienced it.
